DOUBLE INDEMNITY - REVIEW

A big thank you to Helen for hosting the meeting last night..

Most people enjoyed the book, but there was an agreement between those who'd seen it that the film was better. Perhaps this was due to the scripting by Raymond Chandler? Even the author, James M. Cain, thought the film was an improvement on his own work.

Coincidentally, the film magazine Screen Play, are running a series on Film Noir, and the film Double Indemnity was the subject of an article in this month’s edition. This certainly helped the discussion to go late on into the night! There were twelve of us in Helen’s living room and we drank her house dry - good thing the recyclers came next morning! She eventually managed to kick the last of us out at around midnight to totter home. So thank you for your heroic hospitality, Helen, it was a really good night and you were wonderful
